High Steward - wording for scroll

High Steward - wording for scroll Link to this post

Hi, we are a Town Council with an Honorary High Steward. This role has been in place since the 1600s and individuals are appointed for Life so they don't change over very often. However, this May our High Steward is retiring due to ill -health and I need to prepare a scroll for the new incoming High Steward. I wondered if there is any official wording that should be used? Has anyone else done this before?

Hello Nikki
Kings Lynn has a High Steward and the current one is the Duke of Kent who was appointed in 1983. If you contact the archivist at Norfolk County Council you should be able to obtain a copy of the scroll. I am sure the contact details are on the County’s website

Thanks Penny, that's very helpful

I have spoken with Stratford-Upon-Avon Town Council who told me that this is a Royal appointment and they formalised the process through the Crown Office.
I am making enquiries.
