Legal Service for the High Sheriff

Legal Service for the High Sheriff Link to this post

In Cheshire, the Lord Mayor’s Civic Team help to organise Cheshire’s legal service and also contribute towards the costs. In return the invitation comes jointly from the Sheriff of Chester and the High Sheriff of Cheshire and the service takes place in Chester Cathedral and the Town Hall is used afterwards for refreshments. However, this approach has been questioned recently and whether the Under Sheriff should be taking more of a role in organising the event and why the invitation comes jointly from the Sheriff of Chester and the High Sheriff.

If a Legal Service takes place in your patch, please could you confirm who arranges and pays for it please? I know in Chester we are quite unique to have a Sheriff of the City but any advice/guidance on how your legal service is organised would be welcome.
